COLOUR IS BROUGHT INTO THE LIFE OF TWO ECCENTRIC NEIGHBOURS.
"TIM and TED" is my first classical animated short, I have a big affection for this film. At VFS, I was really looking forward to do the classical film, with a lot of expectations. Because of it, it was hard to decide which was the best idea to actually produce. To decide, I thought about the feeling I wanted to give for the audience, and something like "PUT A SMILE IN YOUR FACE" comes to my mind. That was what I wanted with my film, something sweet and funny that makes people feel good!
After that, the point that really put me into this story was the fact that I wanted to have a strong Art Direction, where I could work well with colors. With this goal, I came up with two monochromatic worlds, with colors that I think really work well together: GREEN and RED.
Therefor, I already had the mood and the idea of playing with two different worlds. To complete it, I decided to have two different characters and so I came up with TIM, a fat, round and short green fellow and TED a thin, tall, and square red men. They were meant to be grumpy neighbours, that couldn't get along, this way they would be trapped in funny situations.

VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
I did all my background in Flash, and after I imported them to Photoshop to paint, add textures, lights and effects. Even if this digital process, the very first step is always a drawing on paper. For me, there's no better way to start thinking something than pencil and paper:
